Alejandra Artiel Trio was born in late 2023 within the creative environment of Musikene (Higher School of Music of the Basque Country), as a commitment to original music, timbral exploration, and collective creation.

The group is formed by Alejandra Artiel (flugelhorn, trumpet, and composition), Nacho Soto (piano, keyboards, and electronics) and Martin Irigoras (drums) three musicians with diverse backgrounds and a shared artistic sensibility.

The trio’s repertoire is primarily built around original compositions by Alejandra Artiel, which come to life through a collaborative process of arrangement and reinterpretation. Each piece becomes a starting point that evolves through dialogue between the members, resulting in a sound that is deeply personal, free, and constantly in motion.

The trio’s sound resists labels and that’s one of its defining strengths. The wide range of musical influences each member brings from classical music to contemporary jazz, flamenco, electronic, ambient, and free improvisation shapes a unique sonic language where melody and experimentation coexist effortlessly.

Their music is grounded in solid roots in both jazz and classical traditions, yet dares to break boundaries in search of new forms of expression.

In 2024, the Alejandra Artiel Trio was selected for the IMPULSO artistic residency, promoted by Jazzon Aretoa in Bilbao (Spain) a recognition that has fueled the group’s growth and reaffirmed its commitment to original creation. As part of the residency, the trio is currently working on its debut album, set to be released in 2025.

The Alejandra Artiel Trio offers music that listens and lets itself be listened to music that breathes, takes risks, and opens itself to the poetic, the rhythmic, and the profound. It’s a music that doesn’t seek labels, but rather, to tell stories through emotion.
